Not many people understand the importance of selecting the right swimwear fabric but we do. This is why we are here today to give you some tips for selecting swimwear fabric. While there are a couple of fabrics available in the market from swimwear, you need to select the one that caters to your needs most.
Here are some tips for selecting the right swimwear fabric:
1. Fiber content
There is a wide range of names given to the fibers sued for swimwear. The synthetic fibers may include nylon, polyester and polyamide and these are usually 80 to 90 percent of the fabric. The other 10 to 20 percent is spandex/elastane/lycra. This is what gives the fabric elasticity so you need to make sure that there is at least 10 percent of spandex in the fabric that you are choosing.
The stretchiness of the fabric depends on the way it’s made, embellished and the amount of spandex used in it. A good swimwear fabric should have 4 ways stretch.
Let’s face it we all love the boho-chic prints on our swimsuits, who doesn’t? However, when stretched the print starts to look a bit weird. So, make sure that the print that you are using doesn’t distort when stretched.
Most solid colors have an evenly spread color throughout the fabric which means that you can use the entire width without wasting any cloth. Most of the prints nowadays aren’t printed all the way till end so naturally either one of the selvage is without a print.
If you are out bikini swimwear shopping, do keep these tips in your mind.
